Program offered at our Oakland, Hayward (Cosmetology), & San Pablo locations
Cosmetology is one of the most versatile paths in the beauty industry. As a licensed cosmetologist, you can provide services in hair cutting, color, styling, skin care, and nail care, all under one license.
At Moler, the 1,000-hour Cosmetology program combines classroom theory, hands-on technique, and supervised clinic experience. You can build your foundation step by step, beginning with theory, safety, and sanitation before progressing into practical training and client services on the clinic floor.
Moler’s cosmetology training is designed to help students build the technical skills, professional habits, and confidence needed to prepare for the California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology licensure exam. Completion of the program does not guarantee licensure. Graduates must meet all requirements set by the California Board.
The Cosmetology program includes 1,000 clock hours of theory and practical application. Students receive instruction in hair cutting and design, chemical services, hair coloring, skin and nail care, sanitation, and California laws and regulations.
The program is designed to prepare eligible graduates to apply for the California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology licensure examination. Students also have access to exam preparation resources, including Milady CIMA, to support their study and review.
Moler has served the Bay Area for more than a century, helping students pursue training in barbering, cosmetology, and esthetics. Today, students can train at campus locations in Oakland, Hayward, and San Pablo while learning in person from licensed instructors.
Choosing a beauty school is easier when you can see it for yourself. During a campus tour, you can view the clinic floor, learn about the program, ask questions about schedules and financial aid, and get a feel for the student experience.
Cosmetology is a hands-on field, and practice matters. Moler students train in professional, clinic-based environments designed to reflect real salon settings.
Students may practice on mannequins and live clients under instructor supervision as they build confidence with service steps, sanitation procedures, consultations, timing, and client communication. Campus learning spaces may include classrooms, cosmetology stations, shampoo areas, product areas, and clinic floors where students can apply what they learn.
The program is 1,000 clock hours. Students may complete the program in as little as 7 to 10 months depending on schedule, attendance, and progress. Actual completion time varies.
No prior experience is required. The program is designed for students new to cosmetology. You’ll start with foundational theory, safety, and sanitation before progressing to hands-on training and live client services.
